The Henry R. Breckenridge Charitable Foundation believes in investing in the future of our community. That's why we're honored to announce the Henry Breckenridge Memorial Scholarship, open to graduating high school seniors at Peabody High School and Bishop Fenwick High School who embody Henry’s passion for learning, and deep commitment to serving his community.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

We are looking for applicants that demonstrate:

  • Academic Aptitude: Boast a strong academic record and a commitment to continuous learning.

  • Community Champion: Demonstrate a proven track record of community involvement through volunteer work, leadership roles, or impactful initiatives.

If you answered yes, then this scholarship up to $2,500+ could be for you!

What We Seek:

  • Academic achievement: Strong academic performance demonstrated by your academic transcripts.

  • Personal essay: Share your personal story, your aspirations, and how this scholarship will fuel your future success. Further details included on Personal Essay Request.

  • Letters of recommendation*: Two letters of recommendation from community members who can speak to your character and ambitions.

Remember, the Henry Breckenridge Memorial Scholarship is not just about academic achievement; it's about finding individuals who embody Henry’s spirit of intellectual curiosity and unwavering commitment to service.

Scholarship Details:

  • Award(s): Up to $2,500.

  • Recipients: At least one representative per school (Peabody High School and Bishop Fenwick High School).

Application Deadline:

  • April 26th – Submit your application before the deadline to be considered.

Conditions of Eligibility:

  1. Must be a member of the graduating class of 2024 at either Peabody Veterans Memorial High School or Bishop Fenwick High School.  Applicants must be accepted into a program to further their education, such as a 2 or 4 year college, or a trade program.

  2. Applicants must provide all required elements - completed application, academic transcripts, personal essay and letters of recommendation - to be considered.

  3. The Scholarship Selection Committee reserves the right to deem unacceptable any application or personal essay that is not fully completed or does not meet the criteria, or where a transcript and (2) letters of recommendation have not been supplied by applicant.

*Letters of recommendation: TWO (2) letters of recommendation are required to be submitted. One letter is to be from an educator, one that has either had the applicant in the classroom, or one that can accurately speak to the applicant’s academic and personal record.  The second letter can come from either an employer, coach, or leader of a community group or organization. Letters from relatives are not to be submitted.

+The Scholarship Selection Committee reserves the right to not award a scholarship(s), if in their opinion, there are no qualified candidates. The Scholarship Selection Committee also reserves the right to grant scholarships to multiple recipients in award amounts TOTALING $2,500.
